Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery - Introduction

What is Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery?

Shoulder arthroscopy is the examination of the inside of the shoulder joint and surrounding structures through an arthroscope or telescope. This is a key-hole or minimally invasive surgical technique. The arthroscope is inserted into the joint through two small 5mm incisions on the front and the back of the shoulder joint. Operative procedures can also be undertaken through the arthroscope. The advantages include a better view of the internal structures, less pain and stiffness, day case surgery and a rapid return to work and sport.
